Tarr's Ice Cream

Stop me and buy one!

We couldn't help smiling at this Ice Cream vendor, spotted arriving at the Axbridge Fun Day. When challenged on his green credentials he told us "This is the genuine article, it's just about manageable in a straight line on a smooth surface, but hit a rut and you're done for!" The queue for the ice cream didn't wane all day and when we tasted it we found out why - it's the most delicious, traditional ice cream we've ever tasted! I heard one elderly gentleman say "It takes me back to my childhood, when we'd go to Minehead on the train for the day as our Summer treat". Produced in Bristol by the Tarr family since 1920, it's won no less than 12 National Champion awards. Colin Tarr says "We have five family members in the business today, my son, daughter-in-law, grandson and granddaughter. We have never employed a sales rep, all our business comes by word of mouth and reputation, individuals travel 30 or 40 miles with their coolboxes to buy from our shop"

Tarr's Ice cream is sold direct to the public from and to restaurants, pubs and farm shops as well as via over 100 ice cream vans across the South West and Wales, look out for their logo.
