Market Kitchen comes to Somerset
Each week expert chef Matt Tebbutt travels through a different part of the country in the company of a great chef that either has a connection to the region, loves its food, or is simply keen to discover its gastronomic delights.
The chefs are searching out and celebrating the very best of British produce and ingredients. Once they've sourced them they bring their fantastic ingredients back to the show's restaurant HQ - where Matt and former GMTV presenter Penny Smith are be joined by special foodie and celebrity guests - to cook up delicious dishes that showcase the very best of regional produce.
Penny Smith says; "I am delighted to join in the Market Kitchen Big Adventure. I'm a passionate advocate of local food, and supporting British farmers, so sampling the best the country has to offer with food whipped up by brilliant chefs, is a joy".
The first region featured was Somerset; the Market Kitchen team came to Somerset Food last year for ideas as to where they should be heading, for traditional Somerset produce at its best and some more unusual specialities. When the team came to Somerset they headed to Alham Wood Organics to see how buffalo moxxarella is made, went Mudhorse fishing and visited Wells Farmers Market.
Back in the studio, Matt Tebbutt and Mark Sargent did the ingredients proud with mouth watering dishes, from simple midweek suppers to recipes with a flair that would impress at any dinner party. Show guests were Jason Donovan, food critic Stefan Gates and rap star Coolio.
