Cheddar Ales Brewery beer Festival 2011

WIN TICKETS here - see the end of this article!

Sorry you have missed one of the best events of the year!

Look out for our competion next June.

Big enough to have more beers than you can drink but small enough to keep its charm, the Cheddar Ales festival, now into its third year, really has grown i to one of the great local summer events.  With fantastic ales, value for money and a unique environment, it’s a great way to while-away a summer weekend.

The two brewers, Jem and John, hand-pick a stellar range of 45 award-winning real ales from across Britain to create one of the finest selections of beers ever seen in one venue.  “We have collected the most celebrated beers from small breweries around the country” says Jem “from Truro in Cornwall to the Orkney Islands in the far North of Scotland.”  The range covers a wide variety of styles from traditional bitters, milds and stouts to organic beers, lagers and more unusual offerings flavoured with blueberries or ginger.

There is family-friendly fun during the day, with activities to keep the kids entertained and live music from local acts.   Of course there is always more music and merrymaking in the evenings, when the good  selection of strong beers becomes very popular.

The festival is based in and around the brewery itself, so visitors get the chance to see where they make the beers and get a close look at all of the brewing kit.

This year’s festival will be raised money for three good causes - . to refurbish communal areas at St. Michael’s Cheshire Home in Axbridge, to provide new equipment for Weare Community Pre-school and to donate to the British Heart Foundation.

Further information is available from the Cheddar Ales website at www.cheddarales.co.uk or by calling Jem or John at the brewery on 01934 744193.
